Weekend pleasures

What weekend? I have barely started enjoying it and now it is gone... Spent Saturday being generally lazy and a blob which is such a rare occurrence... Shirlynn cooked dinner last night and she force fed me with a lot of food... could not do my move the food round the plate trick but got out of eating another potato... I know they are concerned but eating is not on the top of my list at the moment and so there you go...

Had a rather interesting class today and it is April Fool's Day! Human dimension to an Organization is really interesting... Anyway it is going to be an early night tonight... We have house inspection tomorrow afternoon which would be interesting....

Yummy

It was a weird sort of day... Technically I am writing about what happened yesterday if one is being totally technical here... Martha and I woke up and decided to make pancakes... So we got everything going and made the pancakes... Which are actually quite nice to eat... Considering we had asparagus and beef as well as the pancakes... So it was savory pancakes for brunch... We decided to go shopping and off we took ourselves to Hornsby which was good as there is a really yummy desert place- we both had a chocolate éclair which i ate faster than her! hahaha... but that was lunch... For dinner we decided to have chips with salt and vinegar... so off we went to the expensive shop to get chips to chuck in the oven to bake... Martha had an egg with her chips and I had a couple of pieces of fish... then i had a massive craving for ice cream and drove all the way to Circular Quay to get some... part of the reason was for us to get out of the house after having a rather lousy day... no comments about the day as per say... it was bad...

okie time to sleep before the sun rises and the birds start to squawk...

Day Light Saving

The clocks were turned back an hour at 0200 this morning. That is the end of Daylight saving and the start of the dark days... It is amazing how much difference that hour makes... For once I needed my alarm to get me up in the morning... It was great to sleep in as the sky was cloudy... Rushed out of my house in a fashionably late manner to get to church... Forgot to take my umbrella and it decided to start raining on me... Sigh... Thank goodness for hoodies...

Am now trying to complete my 1200 word essay on Organizational Structure... But am stuck as it is so vague and there are too many points to cover...Wonder if i could put it under different headings or something like that... Brain is rather fuzzy at the moment too...

Was stressed and decided to try out silicon cup cake tins (if you can call them tins)... Found a really easy recipe for chocolate cup cakes on the web and baked them... Didn't taste too bad but will add chocolate chips the next time for a different texture... Who can possibly go wrong with chocolate??? Gave the cup cakes to the boys as well they are after all cakes and generally not good for the waist line... Wonder when the next baking session is going to be... hmmm... Hopefully not in the near future... would be really bad if that happens...

Okie back to work...

bugs

I have decided that there are lots of things that are bugging me now a days and the list is ever growing:
  • people defacing the books from the library- hello get your own copy if you want to do that!
  • rude people on the escalators- don't they know how to say excuse me properly?
  • ants- they are everywhere in the house!
  • weird creepy crawlies that are random and have made their home in the apartment!
  • pots that have marks on them
  • scum building up anywhere in the bathroom
  • people calling me a neat freak- the people that know me well must be laughing really hard now!
  • tea stains in the teapot or my mug- things have to be shiny not stained
  • noisy drunk people outside on the road at 4 in the morning!
  • the fact that the admin has not gotten their act together and ordered the right letter box key! Thank goodness Martha and I get along so well and we share the one precious key.

Monday Blues

It is Monday...
It rained as usual...
Realized at one this morning that I had a discussion due yesterday...
Bent the nail of my thumb while opening the boot of the car...
Having a caffeine boost at 2115 in the night...
Posted a lot of discussions...
Read some really dumb responses to discussions...
Now trying to read some readings...
Have to start working on assignments that are due next week...
Lemon squash is as yummy as Lemon Lime and Bitters...
Drinking water like a camel...
Thank goodness the rubbish truck is not coming round bright and early tomorrow morning...

End of the week

I am so glad that it is Saturday today. Well okay it is going to be Sunday soon. But it sure feels good to come to the end of the week. I must say that I am getting use to the not sleeping much routine. I know t is not good but hey I crash once in a while like this morning. I woke up after 1000 instead of an ungodly hour even before the sun rises.

Well what can I say about this week. I did not go to the gym. I am really stressed out. I have lost a lot of weight. I need to remember that New Zealand goes off daylight saving later tonight. Oh and yeah the Chiefs beat the Lions by a very impressive margin. Okay that was totally random but hey that's what I am feeling at the moment. Am in a rather random sort of mood and just getting by each day.

I guess for starters I will have to learn to eat as this started on Sunday- I went off food in a big way. So much so that I have lost quite a bit of weight and am off colour. But well food doesn't appeal to me and it is a shift around the plate most of the time.

Oh yeah and I found a new spot to study. I am working off the terrace of the bar at Uni 4 out of 5 days per week. It is really good to study there as for starters the internet actually works 100% of the time. Next reason is that there is a lot of fresh air. Finally am still trying to use up all the free drinks on the SAM card. It is working out harder than I thought it was going to be to drink up $130 worth of drinks! Anybody wanting to be a camel?

Well guess life keeps going round and round and right now i am spinning around off my axis a little. The good news is that I kind of have found my feet for uni but still deciding if I should drop a subject and concentrate on just 3 instead of 4. It is more demanding than anything I expected at the moment.

So there you go, an interesting end to the week. Have to be up early tomorrow as it is EDL901 Educational Institutions as Organizations session.

Gluttony and exessive behaviour

This has been a weird week of all sorts of things...

Started the week with a pop corn and movie on Monday night at the administration building.... Had the usual salted pop corn which is not my favorite to say the least... think I am more of a sweet popcorn person any day...

Had Post grad drinks on Friday night... Did not realize that there are so many post grad students dotted around the village... the drink was good- actually it is my favorite way of drinking champagne! So that went down well. Had chocolate fondue to go with it... The strawberries were the first thing to disappear- a real luxury when one is on a student budget!

Thursday was an interesting sort of day all things considered!
Firstly, I drove Martha to University and after dropping her off decided to take a drive out to Castle Towers for a change of environment and a different place to shop... Getting there was easy and I went crazy in the household shops (any one surprised?) and found some really good buys... Ok I admit the real reason for going to Towers was the Popcorn... I was so happy to discover that the shop still existed and I ended up being a sucker for specials and bought 2 bags of popcorn instead. Got an assortment of caramel, butterscotch and chocolate. Gave one bag to Sze Rhui who was pining for sweet popcorn and the girls finished the whole bag that same night as it was comfort food.

Secondly, it was the night of Summer Haze at the SAM bar... off we went as usual to drink our free drinks out of plastic cups... We all ended up with an assortment of soft drinks as we are all trying to use up the free credit loaded onto our SAM card... Had a really terrible lemon lime and bitters... It is officially the worse drink I have had! Not to be repeated I guess... Wonder what went wrong...Ok that was the night I received a new name- Social escort! For starters it was raining so I had to pick Martha up after her class, came back to the apartment and then back to the SAM bar... Next got bored and some of us decided to come back... So off we went braving the rain and walked back... Got back, had a shower then felt worried about Martha as I wasn't sure if she was all alone... Walked back to SAM bar to realize that she wasn't alone but the girls that were with her wanted to go home... So back into Martha's car I got and drove the girls home... Next it was to pick up Martha... Decided to go to Shirlynn''s place to wait till that happened... So now you can see why the term Social escort...

The weekend was time out and chill time too... Oh and I broke my no Macers rule- had a lean beef burger from there!!!!

Anyway I am off... time to figure out what to eat tonight... Had a new experience last night of having cereal and yogurt for tea... Yes I know that is suppose to be a breakfast food but well meals can get rearranged once in a while...

Gyms and nibbles

I went to the gym for the first time today. Actually signed up last week but well this and that got the better of me. But today I found company to go so off I went happily trooping along after class which was 6.45pm. The gym was an experience unto itself.

First locating the ladies room was a challenge. It was round the gym, up a flight of stairs, along a corridor and then discretely hidden in a corner is the ladies. It sure smelt good in there and it is the coolest part of the gym.

Next it was down to hit the machines. I found a bicycle to ride but was stuck beside a rather aromatic person who was oozing what he has been eating. Not the best of smells and inspiration while attempting to work out. The bicycle was a challenge as I could not get the seat just right. I kept slipping down and it was hard work keeping myself supported. But I did it- I survived for the time I needed to be on the bike.

Off I went to try the stepper machine and that was a lot of fun. The stepper is an interesting machine. I think it is not as challenging as a thread mill. I think I shall go for a proper cross trainer the next time I am in the gym. The stepper does not give me the challenge I need...

Well I was reminded that I had to stay fit and not put on an excessive amount of weight as the food here has a tendency for that to happen. Guess so if I start to nibble on all the yummy cookies and deserts... But the good news is that they are not calling out to me at all. Have found some rather interesting things to nibble on-
Fruits before they become the end of a romance and have to wait till they come in season again.
Nuts and lots of nuts. Although I have been reading that I should eat raw nuts over roasted nuts. Anybody have any theories about this?
Salads with lots of green stuff and red stuff...
There is post grad drinks on Friday night. Will be going for that... Interesting thing to note is that for the first year undergrads they get a barbecue and for post grads they get champagne and fondue. Hmm...

Right it is an early night for me- am going to hit the bed before midnight for a change and before the carriage turns into a pumpkin once again.
Till next time....

Thunder and Lightning

From a very hot day to a very wet night. The clouds rolled in out of no where and it started to flash huge streaks of lightning across the night sky. It sure was a sight to behold as it just lit up the sky. This was in contrast to the beautiful full moon that existed early on in the night. The roar of the thunder was amazing as it bellowed loud and clear for all to hear...

The rain sure cooled the night down a lot but trying to walk in the rain was a real adventure... No avaliable human invention would have kept you dry... The wind was blowing really strong and the safest place was indoors... Didn't fancy being the lightning conductor! Think that walking in the rain is fun but not in this case as one would get positivley soaked by the rain. Braving the rain is only for the real adventure seekers....

Wanted to post this last night while to storm was lashing outside but the internet was down once again... Think this could be safely blamed on the thunderstorm for a change!

Mardi Gras

It is the biggest event of the social calander here in Sydney... Been hearing about the festival on ABC news for the past few days! There were floats from all sorts of places- ANZ bank, the lifeguards, fire servies and police included...

Okay it was an interesting experince to say the least... But on the other had it was in a way what nightmares are made of... it ruined my image of some major businesses like Ikea! What has that got to do with the Mardi Gras? The number of people lining the streets was a sight to behold... There were people everywhere and some bought platforms to stand on just to get a better look at the parade... Don't think it is going to be an ever repeated experience...

Food Glorious Food

I have kind of survived the first week at university... Had an amazing brainwave while sitting in my Human Resource Management paper... I did not feel all that stupid afterall... I actually had an amazing brain wave... I had some thoughts on what to do for my case study! It sure felt good... Now to get all the material to support it and time to complete all the readings... I am expected to spend at least 12 hours on each subject and that means at least 48 hour for all my papers... Got to read widely!!!!
Food here has been an adventure... I have been told that I cook like a pakeha and I am not sure if that is a compliment or what? Any ideas? I don't know but at the moment I am eating loads of salads and fruits... Been told that I drink low fat milk but all the fat is in my one slab of 85% dark Lindt chocolate... Sigh... In case you are wondering the photo was taken at a new desert joint I went to with some friends... It has been nicknamed the bald man...
Well other than brainwaves and food... the other thing that has really been in the spotlight has been friends... Friends from all parts of the globe... Oh and I have to make a special mention of a really special girl by the name of Alethea who always wins when we talk but is a great friend... And of course there are those that keep me young...
Well enough brain waves for a night
