ANZAC Day

Wednesday was ANZAC day... The one day that gets celebrated on both sides of the Tasman... Historically it is to celebrate what the Australian and New Zealand troops did at Galipolli in 1915 during the First World War. In case you are wondering Galipolli is located in Turkey. It is a really solemn occasion with Dawn Ceremonies held... But today there are very few if any of the original troops left and so other wars are celebrated as well... I did not make it to the dawn ceremony at Martin Place as it started at 0430 and I think the beauty slee is more important... One day I might make it to a dawn ceremony.

Went down to Martin Place yesterdayand saw the Monument with all the flowers... Can't help but wonder why people send innocent people into war for no rhyme or reason... It doesn't make sense at all as the solider is someone's child, soul mate and matters to the rest of the world... I am in a rather reflective mood at the moment...

Had a good time with Martha today as we went into the city... Took a train from Gordon to Wynard Station... It is the first time I have been on that train line... it was good fun traveling on the train... Have not done so in ages... We went to Lindt Boutique to have lunch and desert at Martin Place and that was fun... Forgot how much I miss a good chocolate eclair... Ok it is a weird thing to miss but it sure felt good to sink my teeth into it...

The rain is back for now and the weather is cooling down especially once the sun has set... There is change in the air... The nights are getting longer...
